 U-pick flowers on Firefly Farm

Our Opening Day for the 2024 U-pick flower season is set for Saturday, May 11. You may purchase tickets for 2024 now as they make great gifts! Since opening day is so popular, timed tickets are available for use on that day only. Other tickets will be honored but you may have to wait for harvesting supplies.

You are invited to purchase an “any day virtual ticket” in our online store which can be used at any point during our 2024 season after opening day or you may buy the ticket at the farm on the day of your visit. We ask that you check in at the barn. (There is no physical ticket to bring). Check-in for flower picking is self-service with signs to direct you. You will pick up a basket to carry flowers and scissors to harvest the flowers. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. You may spend your time wandering the farm, going from flower patch to flower patch. You may also say hello to the horses, miniature donkeys, and goats. Even the chickens will come running to say hello. There are also trails you may choose to explore, including the pasture walk and the newly expanded pond walk. Bring a picnic and hangout on the farm. A portable restroom is available at the barn. Allow yourself at least an hour to pick flowers.

The cost is $20/ticket. This is not a ”per person” price. You may share the ticket with friends or family. You will be able to harvest enough flowers to make several arrangements. Once you have finished picking flowers, return to the barn where we will wrap up your flowers for the trip home. You may also pick out a jar to display the flowers. We do recommend that you bring a bucket of water for the flowers to sit in for the ride home.

We will have U-pick hours Wednesdays through Saturdays 9 am through 5 pm, with the gates closing at 6 pm each evening. Please allow yourself at least an hour to pick flowers. We are not open on Sundays. Be on the look out for special evening harvesting sessions in 2024. These will be announced on social media.

Flowers are freshest in the early morning and later in the evening as the heat of the sun can cause some drooping. No matter when you pick your flowers, we do recommend that you allow your flowers to sit in water for several hours in a cool place. Then the flowers will be ready for arranging and you will be able to tell which ones will work best. Discard any wilted flowers if they have not recovered after sitting.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I buy my ticket before I come to the farm or at the barn? Either. When you arrive at the barn, you will find signs that explain how to purchase a ticket if you have not already. You may pay cash or scan the QR code for the online store. This is all self-service. Cellular service can be spotty on the farm, so consider buying your ticket before you come if you wish to pay by credit card.

Should each person in the family purchase a ticket? Several people in the same family can share a basket, or they may each choose to have their own. Friends will often each purchase a basket to gather their own flowers. It is your choice.

May I bring my own harvesting supplies and bucket? We ask that you bring a bucket of water for the flowers to ride home in. We will provide all the supplies you need for harvesting flowers.

I would like to come to the farm and walk around, not picking any flowers. Is there a charge for this? Yes. When no one in your party is picking flowers, there is a $5 per person charge for visiting the farm. This allows us to know how many people are visiting the farm and to keep everyone safe.

May we bring a photographer to have photos made? Professional photographers must pay $25/hour. Your family must either purchase a U-pick flower ticket, or each member of your family must purchase a “Just Wandering” ticket if you do not plan to harvest any flowers. Please email Farmer Cindy at fireflyfarm2015@gmail.com to schedule.

I would like to bring someone who is handicapped. Is this possible? The farm is not handicap accessible. However, there are a lot flower patches that line the driveway so we do allow the use of a car for those people with physical limitations.

I bought a ticket in 2023 but was unable to come. What do I do now? We are happy to honor the ticket on another day after opening day during the 2024 flower season as our tickets are “any day tickets”. This is also true if we have to close due to bad weather (thunderstorms). Weather updates and closures are posted on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

We have a group that would like to visit the farm. How do we arrange this type of visit? Please contact Farmer Cindy by email (fireflyfarm2015@gmail.com) to arrange group visits. These group visits are typically arranged outside of normal timed sessions and the price is variable depending on your requests.

May I bring my pet with me? We do not allow pets on the farm for your safety and their safety. If you have a service animal, please contact Farmer Cindy at fireflyfarm2015@gmail.com so that arrangements can be made. The donkeys are guard animals, and do not like canines of any kind.
